To a dog, motoring isn’t just a way of getting from here to there; it’s also a thrill and an adventure. The mere jingle of car keys is enough to send most any dog into a whimpering, tail-wagging frenzy.

Key Legend

1. Take Your Dog To The Vet

It will pave the way for a smooth ride. The last thing you need is a sick pup when traveling long distance. Going to the vet will help you travel worry free knowing that your dog has all the necessary vaccinations.

2. Go On A Trial Run

Before you hit the road do a little trial run to see how your dog reacts after it has been in the car longer than usual. Keep an eye out for any signs of anxiety or car sickness. A trial run will also give you a chance to try out any dog travel accessories before the real deal.

3. Get an ID Tag For Your Dog

Dogs have different territorial instincts and react differently to new environments. In the event that your dog runs off, an ID tag will come in handy. Be sure to include your address, phone number and email address on the ID tag.

4. Show Some Restraint

Dog restraints are vital when traveling long distances. It’s not easy to focus on the road while trying to control your dog. A dog restraint will give you the freedom to drive worry free knowing that your dog is buckled up.

5. Pack a First Aid Kit

Whether small or big, accidents happen. Having a first aid kit for your dog will come in handy. Be sure to include scissors, tweezers, bandages, antibiotic cream and so on. Traveling with basic first aid supplies can be life-saving for your dog.
